Creating good vibes… making great music
Open House Festival is hitting the road again – with thanks to support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. After an amazing performance in Bangor’s beautiful Walled Garden during our festival in August, we are delighted that Dana Masters will be joining us as we embark on our third annual Open House Festival road trip around Northern Ireland. Very special guest is local musician, Alana Henderson.
Dana Masters is an extraordinary singer. Originally from the Deep South in the United States, she grew up with the sounds of soul, rhythm and blues and gospel music all around her. Music took Dana from South Carolina to Los Angeles, where she met an Irish boy who would later become her husband. Since moving to Northern Ireland, Dana has performed on BBC Radio 4 and at Proms in the Park, and regularly sings with some of the finest musicians in this country including Van Morrison and Linley Hamilton. She will perform with her full band, and her repertoire will include original compositions as well as soul and jazz classics. Dana released her EP, Crossing Lines, earlier this year.
Alana Henderson is an Irish singer-songwriter-cellist from County Tyrone whose sound fuses her folk roots with pop sensibility. In 2014, Alana was invited by Irish star Hozier to join him on his worldwide tour as featured cellist, vocalist and occasional support act. Alana is now back on home ground and is working on material for her debut album which she plans to release in early/mid 2017.
This special line-up will visit unusual and beautiful venues in coastal towns and the capital, including the renovated and refurbished Newcastle Community Cinema, the B1 listed Victorian Town Hall in Portrush, 101 Donegall Street, Belfast (a working church and a listed building), finishing on Bangor seafront at the Marine Court Hotel.
